Amethyst

The purple stone, as my kids used to say. This is traditionally the birthstone for February.

The word’s literal meaning is “not intoxicated” due to the belief in early Greece that wearing one would prevent intoxication. But spiritually, Amethyst helps provide a sense of peace and tranquillity. Amethyst is said to help alleviate sadness and calm anxiety. I have kept a chunk of Amethyst under my children’s beds for years.

Amethyst is associated with the Crown Chakra.

Amethyst helps to open up spiritual awareness and enhance psychic powers and intuition.
