Don’t be fooled by this one.
When I first received this 80-card oracle deck, I was certain I would like it. When I looked at the box, it seemed very busy to me.
Amy Zerner is a designer with her beautiful creations available in high-end shops around the world. This is not her first foray into the world of magic and mystery and decks and more. She and her hubby, Monte Farber, have produced numerous decks, pendulum boards and so much more.
When I opened the high-quality RedFeather box, the first thing I noticed was that the backs of the cards were each different. At first, I was confused, but you have to play with a deck to get a proper feel.
This is a high-quality cardstock, and the colours are beautiful and vibrant. When I shuffled the deck, I noticed some of the gilded edges sticking. I feel that this is normal with gilded decks, and in this case, it was easily separated with no damage to the cards.
The cards are large and a little bit big for my hands, so I did what I call a poker shuffle and moved them around my glass-topped table. This is not the first deck I have done this with, and I have clients do it quite often as well.
I pulled my three cards. If you know me at all, you will know I always draw cards in threes. I don’t know why, but that is what I do. My cards were:
Play – This made a lot of sense. I needed to go out and play. I have been working in my office for three days.
Start – I liked this message, simply start. Not at any particular place, just start.
Curiosity – I love the message to be curious, it means so much more and makes a lot of sense.
Now the book says:
Play – Our work can and should take on the quality of play, for it is play that stimulates creativity.
Start – You must start from where you are, examine your situation, and take a chance.
Curiosity – move forward. Look ahead, stretch above your present circumstances.
That book is a high-quality gloss, simple, well-written, and easy to understand.
Those card backs did not confuse me at all.
What did I do after my message? I made a cup of tea, took a seat at my desk, and used these cards to organize my day; it worked.
I must say that my clients love the beauty and simplicity of these cards. I will be using these again and again. They have a place of honour on my reading table, and I pull from this deck every day. I find it insightful.
