Higher Self Oracle by Deanna Marie Riddick
Illustrated by Deborah Rodiguez-Capacetti
Publisher: REDFeather
First of all, I love anything that comes packaged in a tin. So, absolutely a sturdy box, and the illustration is the Patience card. The cardstock has a nice, heavy feel, and it shuffles like a dream. The colours are dark and moody, which suits this deck perfectly.
So, of course, I had to play with them. They read so well and honestly. I have used them with clients, and they love them as well. The cards shown in the photos are my cards for today.
Card # 1 is the immediate past. I drew Ask For Guidance. This card encourages you to reach out and ask for the guidance that you might need. Family, friends, or your spiritual team. Of course, this resonates with me. We all need to ask for a prod to get us back on our path.
Card #2: This card is the present. I drew Nature. The first thing I thought was that I needed to spend more time outdoors. My Higher Self is encouraging me to spend time in nature and surround myself with it for healing and revitalization. Duke is going to be so pleased to go for long walks in a more natural setting.
Card # 3 is The Outcome. I drew The Light. I feel that everyone has a light or higher purpose within. As a medium, it is my job to bring love, laughter, and healing to my clients. Not to let fear and darkness hold us back. If we are feeling dark, we need to find our light within.
The book includes a Shower of Light Ritual, allowing you to experience the power of light.
Now for the book. I love the design on the cover. This is the Intuition card, very appropriate for this deck. Now, this is not a huge book. However, it packs a punch. The introduction provides a wealth of information, almost like a religious history.
The next section is the identity crisis: ego vs higher self. The poem included made me laugh out loud. “Crooked Deals” by Sufi master Hafiz.
The third section provides several spreads to use with the cards. I simply chose the three-card spread for today.
Then, a page or two that shares Techniques to Connect With Your Higher Self.
You can bet that I will be doing some of these this afternoon.
Then the section on the cards. Each is well written with a quotation and well well-thought-out meaning of the cards. Additionally, some include rituals to facilitate working with the drawn card.
The only complaint I have is that it is not due out until the Spring. This makes me sad. When you see it, grab one for yourself and maybe a friend who needs to reconnect to their light.
I believe this will become a valuable addition to your collection.
Enjoy
